MEET OUR ADVISORS

OVERVIEW

With minimum postwar infrastructure and preparedness Liberia emerged stronger on the other side of Covid19 and the 2014 Ebola Crisis. But these crises did two things: they exposed Liberia’s Healthcare weaknesses and highlighted Liberians’ capacity to learn and be resilient. There’s still abundant research and data which paints a difficult picture of less than 1,000 Doctors for 5,000,000 people where 80% of Liberians don’t have access to a Hospital because of inability to pay and the lack of in-country facilities and equipment. Official government spending on Health is $57 per capita or 3.7% of the National Budget in 2024. In real world terms this translates into millions of Liberians falling through the cracks with poor Health outcomes and negative impacts on National Development. The WHO (World Health Organization) acknowledges that Liberia has a high burden of Communicable and Non Communicable Disease (NCD) while also being endemic for 4 out of 5 of the (NTDs) Neglected Tropical Diseases. These exist alongside Malaria, Tuberculosis, HIV/Aids, Dengue and Diarrhea.

THE STRATEGY

It isn’t possible for COVER OUR PEOPLE FOUNDATION to do Government’s heavy-lifting. But by bringing Diaspora and local resources and people to act together on the frontlines, we can carve a unique and effective place between Liberia’s high disease burden and its institutional
and structural challenges. And this will happen under the preventive theme of HEALTH EDUCATION, HEALTH PROMOTION & HEALTH PREVENTION.

THE SOLUTIONS

The lessons of EBOLA demonstrated that through well directed Public Health messages Liberians united to stop the epidemic and defy catastrophic EBOLA predictions. Our EDUCATION campaigns will unfold by employing Liberia’s creative talent thru Social Media platforms to craft an ecosystem of audiovisual EDUCATION, PROMOTION AND PREVENTION messages in English and local languages directed at specific demographics. The WHO (World Health Organization) defines HEALTH EDUCATION as a tool to improve a population's general health and wellness through promoting knowledge and healthy practices. Our HEALTH PROMOTION & PREVENTION programs will focus on KEEPING PEOPLE HEALTHY by engaging and empowering individuals and communities to choose healthy behaviors, and reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases and other morbidities for better health outcomes.
