“The function of education is to teach one to think intensely and to think critically. Intelligence plus character. That is the goal of true education.”
- Martin Luther King Jr.

OVERVIEW
There are 230,000 predominantly young adult males earning an income by operating Motorcycles and Tricycles transport services in Liberia. If that’s the height of their educational and technical capacities, then we’re in deep trouble. About as many and even younger children are engaged in street selling to support their families. The Annual School Census Report of 2021/22 reported that the Primary School Completion rate for Girls and Boys hovers around 10% where the Median National age is 18.3 years. In 2023 the Liberian Government committed only 2.4% of its GDP towards the Educational Sector even though 63% of its population is under 25 years old, and 32% of these numbers are between the ages of 10-24 years. Add in shoddy infrastructure and unqualified staff and a bleak portrait of EDUCATION emerges in Liberia. This casts a dark shadow over our positive growth, development and sustainability in every sector.

THE STRATEGY
COVER OUR PEOPLE FOUNDATION can’t do the Government’s work. Nobody can! But we can create the platform which brings together Diaspora and local resources (human, technical and financial) to make targeted interventions on the frontlines of EDUCATION. The first order of business will be to create an International (Liberia & Diaspora) Database of Expertise and Resources (Click here). And we’ll match these to the needs of our most important and critically underserved Youth populations.
THE SOLUTIONS
Great efforts must be applied to great challenges! We’re far behind everybody. But we can build hope and a better future if we start investing in the foundations of a prosperous future NOW! And for our EDUCATIONAL pillar that means investing in Teacher Training and Early Childhood Education (ECE) as the frontline of Human Resource Development in Liberia. And we’ll use and incorporate Social Media platforms and techniques to enhance our educational agenda by linking it to Nation-Building. But first we’ve got to centralize and collate existing data on Education in Liberia as the statistical basis and point of departure for our solutions. (Click here) for Data.
